Grandad 💙

The Grandest in deed! We lost a real REAL good man today. It happened beautifully and I’m so thankful for that...there’s still a pit in my heart knowing I won’t get to come home and hug Grandad one more time, squeeze his hand with him squeezing back as tight as he can. Smiling through it all and always remembering to point us back to Jesus. He got it. And now he’s getting it....he’s beginning his everlasting joyful peaceful life in heaven. Natalie said it perfectly and I can’t help to admit I thought the same thing this morning. What a gift he gave us knowing with 100% certainty that he is somewhere more and enjoyable and better than “here.” I pray we each leave as beautiful of a legacy and family as Grandad did...we are truly so lucky to be a part of their family. I’m forever grateful to be theirs and to know my kids are theirs too.

A few favorite memories growing up:

-Grandad’s fires in the fireplace and cracking nuts by the fire (especially during Christmas time)

-Grandad and Mimi taking us to sandy beach

-riding the golf cart on their land and playing near their pond

-getting to ride in the golf cart with Dad and Grandad and eat cool ranch chips and drink lemonade

-Grandads desk and his babe ruth sign above his computer always stood out to me.

-Grandad always having a football, baseball or golf game on the tv

-Mimi and Grandad taking me and Natalie Korte on our summer adventures where we would stay with them for a week (?) to Branson and silver dollar city and riding the roller coasters with us (backwards!)

-Going to church with Mimi and Grandad...Sunday school with Mimi and then going to big church where Grandad would help usher people and how proud he always was to be there and how proud I was that he was my Grandad!

-the way Grandad called Mimi by her name “Tommie” or nicknames “Tom” “TL” etc.

-the times he took us to DQ for ice cream
